Getting our Christmas Decorations

We tried to get our Christmas "green" decorations every year from our land, if we could. This year, while Liz and Mamie were in town, we took advantage of a beautiful day and went to our Fall Branch land to cut some pine branches and a tree for our Christmas decorations. It was fun just to get there and walk to the land and select some pine trees to cut down. We certainly had a good time and took some pictures together. Apparently Margaret was not with us this time. She had to be somewhere very important to miss this event! And I like that I was in one of the pictures!

A Big Thanksgiving Feast!

Every year, Janice would have a Thanksgiving dinner for at least some family members at our home. This year we did not have any family members coming, so Janice invited a lot of Chinese and Taiwanese students on campus so that they would get a taste of how Americans celebrate Thanksgiving. In addition, she invited her college friend, Liz, and her friend, Mamie, a black woman from the Washington DC area. One of the Taiwanese students, Kevin, brought his American wife, Janet. Old Chen (Chen Li-Ming) was in the fourth picture in the middle, who was teaching in a college in Taichung. We certainly had a big dinner as you can see from the pictures below:

Who is this?

Halloween in 1979 was a very comfortable day. Our children were always very interested in this holiday - it was Margaret's favorite! Margaret and Steven were both involved and considered very carefully what they wanted to wear - what they wanted to be. Clearly, here you can see that Margaret wanted to be a princess but Steven really did not want others to know who he was behind the ghost costume. However, people could recognize them by association, so they had to walk at different times to fool our neighbors. Ha, it was great fun! The other young lady in the picture was Kristin Zinzer.
